Sq. Ft. Pricing Myth, Hand Carved Details, Engineered Quartz

May 12, 2014

Good morning!

As the sun gets higher in the sky we are bidding a fond farewell to winter and welcoming the first signs of spring in Aroostook County, Maine.  Spring also marks the ramping up of our busy season, with mills running full steam, estimates and plans buzzing along the internet and plenty of hard work on the part of our dealers across the country.

In a continuation of our discussions over the past two months about pricing, we tackle one of the most frustrating questions we encounter in our business: the Cost per Square Foot. As you’ll learn below it’s a challenging question, and one we see often. We hope to resolve your questions about cost per square foot this month.

One really great way to add custom details to your Katahdin log home is through hand carved details. We spoke with a finely skilled wood carver who explains the process of commissioning a custom carving for your home and some logical places where wood carving can truly enhance the décor.

We also take a look at advances in two areas in the kitchen: appliances and countertops. You may be surprised to learn about these new trends! And finally, in our Green Tip, we review ways new digital water timers can simplify your watering needs, as well as conserve this precious resource.

We are also pleased to announce the winner of our Photography contest! Katahdin Klub was created last fall to celebrate 40 years of log home history and customers. The photography contest was our way to search out “house proud” folks and let them share their home. If you are a Katahdin Cedar Log Home owner interested in joining and receiving special offers and discounts, click here .

And, just before going to “press,” we’ve been able to finalize our first summer Log Home Seminar in eastern Ohio on Sunday, May 22. See the article below for details.

We’re always looking for new article ideas to answer your questions!  Drop us a line and we’ll try to include them in upcoming newsletters. Just click here to reach us.

Sincerely,

David Gordon
President
