Good morning!
We’re just finishing up with the maple syrup season and it’s been an unpredictable one! Our winter was quite a bit colder than usual slowing the flow for the first part of the season, until the sun was high enough in the sky to warm things up. Now they are predicting a longer than usual sap run time because of the slower start. Maple sugar is one of Maine’s finest harvests!
This month we revisit Katahdin’s pricing from the customer and dealer point of view. It takes a lot of communication to define the budget, refine the design, and develop a package that will make you happy. This month we explore the balance between customer desires, budgets, and the experience of the dealer in reaching a solution that meets your needs.
Sectional furniture seems like a natural solution to television rooms and the dramatic great rooms that grace so many log homes. Below we provide a primer on designing and selecting a sectional that won’t overwhelm the space and provide great seating for years to come. We also take a look at how retro styles of tile can freshen a bath or kitchen.
This time of year is also the perfect time to plan gardens. We take a look at growing flowers known for a beautiful scent as well as color. And finally in the Green Tip, we discuss steps that should be taken on your construction site to minimize effects of storm water on adjacent streams and lakes.
We finish up our spring log home show season in sunny Florida. But, we are busy planning our Log Home Seminars and encourage you to check in for updates!
We’re always looking for new article ideas to answer your questions! Drop us a line and we’ll try to include them in upcoming newsletters. Just click here to reach us.

Green Tip: On-site Erosion Control
Many log home sites are situated near bodies of water: seasonal streams, lakes, rivers, vernal pools and other water features. Additionally these homes are likely to rely on a private well for water. So it make sense to take care with controlling erosion during construction to protect nearby water supplies. Learn more.
