Turnkey Log Home Construction Basics

December 14, 2010

One of the questions that kept popping up at log home shows this season was “What exactly is turnkey construction?” We take a look at the concept and give you some tips to make sure you and your contractor are on the same page.

Our customers have a special interest in nature and animals and so we spoke with one of the world’s top sculptor of wildlife for some insights on how he creates his breathtaking bronzes. We also know that you love to entertain, so we’ve gathered some tips about making guest rooms as welcoming as possible. We’ve also revisited the residential wind turbine, and found one brand that addresses the vibrations and noise issues common with these alternative energy options.

“Turnkey” construction seems to be one of those terms finding currency in the log home business. So, we talked to three Katahdin dealers who are experienced in turnkey construction practices to give you some tips for your own turnkey log home project. Learn more here.

Art Focus: Forest Hart’s Wildlife in Bronze

Forest Hart got his start in taxidermy but ultimately decided that wildlife in bronze was his medium. After training at a top natural history museum, he learned more about animal anatomy as well as their habits, tendencies and movement. Learn how he designs his stunning and lifelike bronze animals here.

8 Tips for Creating Friendly Guest Rooms

Many log home owners express the delight they have in hosting relatives and guests for visits to their little corner of the world. As the holidays often attract friends, family and other guests, we’d like to explore ways to make they stays enjoyable and bring them back again. See how to make memories for your guests here.

Green Tip: Rooftop Wind Turbines

It seems so simple to be able to harness the wind outside your home to offset your electrical demand. Yet many early enthusiasts found that the residential turbines they installed developed unpleasant harmonics, creating a low decibel hum when operating. Check out a new, quiet operation turbine for your rooftop here.
